SO YOU WANT TO PURCHASE A DOG?
Before you make a hasty or emotional
decision, please take note -
There is a basic set of requirements for every breed of pedigree dog.  This Standard
sets the way each different breed should look and behave.  Most breeders who love
their breed will  want to produce the best examples possible.  These breeders will take

care in their breeding by
1.   Ensuring their breeding stock and studs they use have been tested by certified
authorities for any hereditary defects in the breed, if there are any present.
2.  Making decisions to breed according to the results, bearing in mind the best
outcome  for the breed,
3.  Making educated decisions on the right dog and bitch to mate
4.  Ensuring the health and age of the bitch are suitable for breeding.
5.  Having the time to conscientiously look after a litter of puppies.
6.  Not letting the puppies go to new homes before 8 weeks of age.

INCIDENTALLY, PURCHASING A MIXED BREED DOES NOT ENSURE
YOUR DOG WILL BE FREE FROM  HEREDITARY PROBLEMS.
These concerned breeders should make  enquiries of prospective puppy purchasers to ensure that those
puppies produced which will be sold as pets go to homes that are suitable for the breed and that
prospective owners are made aware of all the requirements of the breed .
They should provide to a new owner a diet sheet and general information about looking after a puppy, and
be available for "after sales service" for queries and assistance regarding the new puppy
A concerned breeder will ask a lot of questions before a prospective puppy purchaser can expect that a
puppy will be made available.
IT IS IN THE INTERESTS OF ALL INVOLVED - BREEDER,
PUPPY AND NEW OWNER -
THAT THE CORRECT TYPE OF DOG IS SELECTED
FOR THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH IT IS TO LIVE

Anyone making a decision to add a dog to their life, whether it be as a family pet or as a companion dog,
should thoroughly research the breeds they are attracted to, read books on the breeds, visit dog shows and
talk to owners and breeders before making a final decision.
It is always of benefit to join the club of the breed if there is one, where you can communicate with people
who have your breed, and continue to learn from and be supported by other owners of your breed.
OWNING A DOG IS A COMMITMENT,
AND ENJOYMENT IS OWNING A WELL MANNERED,
OBEDIENT AND HEALTHY DOG.

A DOG IS ONLY AS TRUSTWORTHY AND TRUSTING
AS ITS OWNERS MAKE IT -
REGARDLESS OF THE BREED !
